Civil War telegrams

In only its second decade of regular use in the United States, the telegraph became a critical tool in carrying out the military efforts.  President Abraham Lincoln was particularly adept at utilizing the telegraph on the Union side. This small collection of four telegrams are representative of the thousands of telegram messages sent by military officials during the Civil War.
