The Rolling Stone Covers
Written by Adam Faulkner

Rolling Stone CoverRolling Stone magazine has been essential to providing coverage on pop culture, politics, music, and celebrities. Created in 1967 out of San Francisco by Jann Wenner and Ralph Gleason, the magazine has captured the attention of nearly 1.5 million subscribers. Its political coverage in the early years by Hunter S. Thompson helped attract national attention. The bi-weekly magazine faced heavy criticism when it appealed to a new generation by engaging in pop music and and famous actors. A return to a mix of politics and culture raised the amount of readers. The cover of Rolling Stone has sparked controversy on several occasions with pictures of naked celebs or explicit content. However, Watergate, Clinton's scandal, and 9/11 have taken centerstage upon publication. These historical events as well as controversial issues are covered in depth.
